JANUARY 8, 2008 – The groundbreaking Bamboo Shag Rug collection by Anji Mountain Bamboo Rug Co. has been selected as a Finalist in the fifth annual Housewares Design Award competition in the Lighting, Home Décor and Outdoor Living category. Honoring design excellence for the art of living, the finalists were chosen for their superior design innovation, functionality and visual appeal by an independent panel that included retailers, practicing designers and consumer press journalists. The “Best of Category” winners will be announced at a Housewares Design Awards presentation ceremony and luncheon on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square. Leading retailers, housewares industry executives and consumer media will attend this event. The Bamboo Shag collection, which recently previewed at select trade shows including WIRED NextFest in Los Angeles this past September, can now be purchased through select internet and catalog retailers and a growing number of area rug and home furnishing retailers nationwide. Retailers and consumers have marveled at the dense woven yarn, subtle sheen and soft, luxuriant feel but mostly that the premium shag yarn is made primarily from sustainable, renewable bamboo. The yarn is 80% bamboo and 20% cotton and features a 100% cotton canvas backing.
